POWER YOGA is an excellent interconnection of classical yoga with other modern types of exercise.
POWER YOGA has its origin in the U.S. in the late nineties when several yoga instructors were looking for a way to bring yoga to a wider range of people and make it more dynamic. POWER YOGA has since become very popular and is an interesting alternative not only to yoga itself but also to aerobics or pilates.
Unlike traditional yoga where you are required to remain in one position for quite long time in POWER YOGA positions dynamically chage. Emphasis is mainly placed on strength and flexibility. Power yoga is physically more demanding than traditional yoga and can therefore help with weight loss or weight maintenance.
POWER YOGA uses both standing position and on the ground. The standing positions lead to improved blood circulation and breathing, strengthen the leg muscles and relax the pelvis and lower back. In contrast the positions on the ground are focused particularly on the spine, lower back and stability of the upper body.
